Mercedes Benz has always been known to stir the imagination with high
quality cars that possess a combination of luxury and speed. Among
their recent models, only a few have created a larger stir than their
CLS. Best known for being a “4 door coupe”, its styling has been well
received by both fans and critics alike.
When the new generation of the CLS was unveiled late in 2010, it had
quite huge shoes to fill. After all, more than 170,000 CLS models have
been sold in a span of six years, and on the process created a new
styling niche that is completely theirs.
Exterior & Interior
Sure, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS550 retains that 4 door
coupe styling that made it so popular with the masses. But this car is a
completely new model that is designed to build on the strong tradition
of the original. A front end that is apparently inspired by the
retro-inspired supercar SLS sets the tone for the new design. Still up
front, the CLS is the first production car ever to use full LED lights
on their headlight system. The same outline that made the CLS special
was retained, but they are reformatted to present a smoother, more
aggressive feel.
Performance
To
round of the car, the interior is the recipient of a classic yet
progressive arrangement from the seats down to the instruments, true to
the tradition of Mercedes Benz. And a 5.5 liter twin turbo engine
producing 402 horsepower provides the muscle for this muscular device.
The 2011 Mercedes Benz CLS550 is on a class of its own, just like the
modern legend that it replaced.
